KATHLENE EMOND

L.A.C., MSTOM, DIPL. OM

Kathlene is a licensed Acupuncturist in CT and NY, a Board Certified Herbalist, and a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine as granted by the NCCAOM. She received her Master’s of Science degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York, NY. Her main training was in TCM style acupuncture, however she has training in both Classical style and Electro-acupuncture from her mentors in these fields. Additionally, she trained outside of the required program hours under the supervision of two acupuncturists where she was exposed to Five Element style acupuncture, orthopedic and sports medicine, and post-surgical rehabilitation/scar therapy. She currently also treats patients for: women’s issues/GYN, fertility, neck & back pain, sciatica, digestive disorders, autoimmune, insomnia, anxiety/depression, fatigue, headaches, migraines, sports injuries, and stress.

Kathlene originally started down a pre-med path that ultimately resulted in receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Boston University, as well as continuing graduate level counseling classes at Southern Connecticut State University. When she got diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and MTHFR, she started down other paths of “alternative” healing starting with naturopathic consultation. Her world began opening up to more holistic styles of medicine, and she began to explore forms of energy healing and the role of spirituality in healing. It was a long time before she discovered the powerful combination of acupuncture and internal herbal medicine, and immediately decided to become a practitioner to help more people have access to this medicine. She later pursued a certification offered by the state of New York for Mental Health First Aid Training in order to provide another level of care to her patients from a holistic perspective. As such, she excels at holding space and treating mental health and trauma related issues.

She has extensive knowledge on a personal level about the treatment of autoimmune conditions and digestive health from both Eastern and Western perspectives, and has been able to manage her condition without Western medication through acupuncture, herbs, supplements, and dietary modification. She had the good fortune to both learn from and receive treatment from Dr. Heidi Lovie, DACM, a nationally respected authority on the treatment of Hashimoto’s. She also has learned from and been treated by the inimitable Dr. John Pai in midtown Manhattan. While Western medication is sometimes necessary, Kathlene believes it is very important to explore all possible avenues of treatment starting with the most conservative methods first. She is very aware of how challenging chronic illness can be physically, mentally, and spiritually. She is passionate and committed to helping her patients regain hope, and she encourages and equips them with the resources they need to become the foremost experts in their own health management. True healing is not going back to how things were; it is fully accepting the present moment as it is, and blazing a new path from the place we now stand.

Kathlene’s personal wellness regimen includes Chinese medicine (acupuncture, astrology, herbs, eating mindfully with the seasons, and lots of moxa), Qi Gong 6 healing sounds practice,
Meditation, Buddhist chanting, Gratitude journaling, weight lifting, spending time by the ocean, enjoying healthy and balanced relationships, and reading as many self-help books.
